Are you able to provide analytical services ?
Canadian Media Network has socio-demographic and consumer-spending data supplied by Statistics Canada and PMB. We can also use the client’s point of sale-collected data as well as internal databases to complement the analysis. Whether it’s to complement the unaddressed management service or supplied as a stand-alone service, our team of analysts can provide you with a tailored service to meet your requirements.
What affects the response of unaddressed mail ?
There are many factors that can affect the response level, including:
- Creative
- Copy
- Demographic/Geographic target
- Offering/Enticement
- Quality of distribution
- Competitor activities
- Frequency of distribution
- Shelf life of delivery vehicle
- Merchandising activity
- Supportive media programs
What accounts for the differences in household counts reported by private network carrier services versus those reported by Canada Post ?
- Canada Post letter carrier walks do not always fall within a single Forward Sortation Area (FSA) boundary.
- Canada Post is continuously adding or deleting FSA’s.
- Apartment designation varies from one Canada Post region to another and the same is true amongst network carrier services.
- Canada Post would classify a central mail facility for a townhouse complex as apartments, whereas a private distributor would classify a townhouse complex as houses.
- Canada Post counts 100% of the mailboxes within an apartment. Network carrier services only count active mailboxes and monitor usage levels.
- General Delivery (GD), Call For (CF) and Letter Box (LB) counts may provide duplication with regular household coverage.
When can I get quantities for a “town” or “city” I’d like to deliver to ?
Transcontinental Distribution maintains a national database of housing “quantities” for available distributors (weekly and/or daily papers as well as Canada Post) for large and small markets across Canada. Please, contact us for further information.
Why do some people not receive all flyer promotions ?
Depending on the flyer program a corporate decision may have been made to have certain types of households excluded due to the merchandise content advertised within the flyer. If you feel a householder should have received your flyer but has not… please complete a “Flyer Query Response” and Fax it to us or, call us directly.
Does Canada Post deliver all flyers ?
Several years ago Canada Post ceased to offer “economy” ad-mail delivery. New regulations, increased pricing and packaging restrictions have forced advertisers to look for alternatives. Consequently, today unaddressed mail is delivered by various means including private distributors, community newspapers and daily newspapers. To find out how your product is being delivered, please contact us.
Do flyers need to be folded ?
Some flyers are printed in such a size that they need to be folded to accommodate size restrictions required by some distributors performing delivery, including Canada Post. Each unaddressed mail item must meets the applicable size and weight requirements as outlined by Canada Post. These requirements very depending on whether the route is a “Letter Carrier Route” or a “Non-Letter Carrier Route”.
How long will it take to make changes to my unaddressed flyer program?
We will make every effort to expedite a request to update a program. There is typically a four to six week period for a change to work its way through the system. Typically a print list is submitted four to six weeks in advance of a targeted promotion deadline. This time frame is required to accomplish several tasks including printing flyers and providing store copies well in advance of sales events in order that stores may appropriately merchandise their products. As well, time is required to box, label and ship the product to many destinations across Canada in time for distributors to prepare them for delivery to the intended consumer.
